Natural Summer Skincare Essentials
I have very sensitive skin, and I've always had to be extra careful with the products I use on my face. I dealt with terrible acne for years, and for so long I was too scared to use anything other than a gentle soap on my skin. I've worked really hard to take care of my skin and develop a skincare routine—in the last year it has become my most favorite part of self-care! I really look forward to my face mask nights. Because I have experienced so many struggles when it comes to my face and acne, I'm so grateful to now know what works.
Two weeks ago, I made the switch to all natural skincare products. I honestly didn't know how many chemicals were in my face wash before (I was using Cetaphil), until I took the Think Dirty app to my bathroom cabinet. I made the switch over to Juice Beauty for my face wash, and I also incorporated a few other products in my routine for super moisturized, glowy skin! I'm sharing my FAVORITE products below for those interested in natural products that work wonders. I also HIGHLY recommend downloading the Think Dirty app and educating yourself on all of those sneaky chemicals that are hiding in your beauty products. Keep reading to learn about my skincare routine and the products I love!
step 03. Face Oil
I use face oil at night, and wake up the SOFTEST SKIN!! I honestly first tried face oil because it just looks so pretty. Haha. Then I tried it and fell in love with how soft it makes my skin! I usually stick to this step only at night, however I sometimes use it in the morning for some extra moisture. I use Shea Moisture's Daily Hydration Overnight Face Oil, which you can find at Target. It was such a happy surprise to find out this face oil is all natural, when I used the Think Dirty app. I know of this cool wellness store that creates face oil blends customized to your skin needs, and I'm hoping to make a visit to their oil bar soon. Also, I've heard people wash their face with oil and love the results, so that's interesting!
Step 04. Exfoliate
I read a really informative article about why exfoliating is important for your skin and learned that it cleanses, brightens, and hydrates your skin. I especially wanted to try it about two months ago when my skin was breaking out so much. And guess what?! My skin is super clear now!! I really love the Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel (top photo) for exfoliating my skin. It's all natural and works wonders. I use it 1-3 times a week. Try it guys!!
Step 05. Face Masks
Face masks are my FAVORITE thing ever. I love em. So, an unfortunate little disclaimer- my all time favorite ever face mask is not all natural. I discovered that Aesop does use some chemicals in their products, but I'm not sweating it too much because I trust the company, and the rest of my skincare routine is natural so I think I'm doing okay. THE GOOD NEWS- The Aesop Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque is genuinely so cleansing and refreshing for my skin. I love the way it looks, smells, and most importantly works. It's such treat haha. I highly recommend this product if you're searching for a deep cleansing mask. I use this face mask 1-2 times per week.
01. Wash Face
I wash my face with Juice Beauty's Organic Facial Wash. I usually only wash my face with soap once per day, sometimes two if necessary. Usually in the mornings I just splash my face with water! I switched to Juice Beauty for my skincare a few weeks ago and my face feels clean, soft, and is staying clear.
I use Juice Beauty's SPF 30 Oil-free Moisturizer after I wash my face. It's super moisturizing and protects my skin from the sun, which is ideal for summer. I also have a lot of melanin in my skin, which unfortunately results in a lot of dark marks on my face (usually resulting from acne). So, using sunscreen is extra important!!
Completing my skincare routine is one of my favorite parts of every day, and face mask nights are extra special! I'm so happy I updated my skincare routine this summer to all natural products that are friendly to my skin, hydrate and protect it from the sun during these super hot days, and have made a true difference in the look and feel of my skin.
Let me know in the comments what your favorite natural skincare products are! I'd seriously love any recommendations and I'm always up for trying new things!
