A Weekend in Joshua Tree
Last weekend I visited Joshua Tree, California, aka my favorite place on earth. It’s my favorite cause it’s magical and so peaceful. Also I’m terrified of heights and mountains so the desert just fits me. Traveling back to California was a dream. I lived there for four months last year- the best time of my life so far and a story of God’s faithfulness in my life (which I’d love to share here at some point!). I lived and worked in Los Angeles, fell in love with the culture and the color of the city, and it came to feel like home to me. Everyday I miss riding the metro to downtown LA and spending all my free time hiking and visiting the ocean. I’m forever dreaming of the day I move back!
I turned 23 in December, so this was a late birthday trip I took with my sister. We flew into Palm Springs to start the trip and spent a day at the Ace Hotel. January in Palm Springs was warm- the air smelled of sunscreen & summer. The next day we drove out to Joshua Tree and explored the National Park for a few hours. If you ever go, I recommend listening to Sleep on the Floor by the Lumineers on repeat as you drive through the park with windows rolled down (maybe in a Jeep?). I sadly didn’t find a giant cactus like I had hoped, but it was such a fun day.
We stayed at an Airbnb called The Coyote House and it’s a dream.)
Now I’m dreaming about trips to Big Sur, San Luis Obispo, Huntington Beach, and Salvation Mountain (all in California) so if anyone is up for adventure let me know!
